Please read this disclaimer before you buy, install or use any part from JDM Engine Bay Inc. It summarizes what our used and imported parts are, what our warranty covers and what you are responsible for as the buyer.

Section 1 – Key facts about our products

  • Our engines, transmissions and parts are imported from Japan. Unless a listing says New, items are used and are not new.
  • Every engine passes a multi-point inspection and compression test, and only engines with positive compression results are shipped. Compression test results are available on request.
  • All sales are final. An exchange, return or refund is only considered if we posted incorrect Japanese specifications for the item by mistake. See our Return & Refund Policy and Warranty Policy.

Section 2 – Product condition

  • Used engines typically have 20,000–60,000 miles, depending on the model year. They are not new.
  • Small scratches are normal. Fragile plastic, metal or rubber parts may bend or break during shipping; replacements can be taken from your original engine or a local used parts store.
  • Electrical and electronic parts have no warranty.

Section 3 – Warranty limits

  • Used replacement engines have a 90-day warranty, used performance engines (VTEC, turbo) 30 days and used replacement transmissions 60 days. Rotary engines (Mazda RX-7 13BT / 13BTT / 20B), electrical and electronic parts and used performance transmissions have no warranty.
  • The warranty period starts on the day you receive the item. The exact warranty for each item is shown on its product page.
  • This limited warranty, described in our Warranty Policy, replaces all other express warranties. Any implied warranties are limited to the duration of this warranty.
  • Labor, towing, freight and delivery charges are not covered.
  • Loss caused by improper installation, overheating, modifications the engine was not designed for, forced induction, racing or repairs made without our prior authorization is not covered.
  • Failure to follow the maintenance requirements in our Warranty Policy voids the warranty.
  • Repairs or exchanges made under the warranty do not extend the original warranty period.

Section 4 – Vehicle compatibility and fitment

  • It is your responsibility to confirm that an item fits your vehicle before you order.
  • Call us to confirm a part fits your vehicle and what modifications, if any, are needed.
  • We do not accept returns or give refunds for items that do not fit your vehicle, unless we posted incorrect Japanese specifications by mistake.

Section 5 – Mileage

  • Used engines typically have 20,000–60,000 miles, depending on the model year.
  • Our sourcing agents in Japan select vehicles with the lowest mileage and in the best condition possible.
  • Mileage and condition are described on each product page.

Section 6 – Emissions, legal use and long-block pricing

  • Engines supplied with accessories may not meet your local emission laws. Emission devices may need to be transferred from your old engine.
  • You are responsible for checking the laws and inspection rules that apply in your state and for using the product only in a lawful way.
  • Accessories are attached for testing only and are free of charge. The price covers the long block only (cylinder head and short block).

Section 7 – Brand and trademark disclaimer

JDM Engine Bay Inc. is an independent seller. We are not an authorized dealer of, and we are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by, any vehicle or engine manufacturer. Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Honda, Acura, Nissan, Infiniti, Subaru, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia and all other vehicle and engine brand names, model names and engine codes on this site are trademarks or names of their respective owners. • Product photos, descriptions, engine codes and specifications are provided to help you choose. Photos may show a similar item, and colors may look different on your screen.

Section 9 – Installation

  • Engines and transmissions should be installed by a qualified mechanic. We are not responsible for loss caused by improper installation.
  • Installation, maintenance and adjustments must be done by a certified mechanic for the warranty to apply.
  • We install the engines and transmissions you buy from us at our San Leandro location. The work is done by certified technicians and is backed by a labor warranty on the installation workmanship, plus the standard product warranty. See Local Installation.

Section 10 – Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, our liability for any claim related to a product or to this site is limited to the amount you paid for the product concerned. We are not liable for incidental or consequential damages, including loss of use, loss of time, inconvenience or commercial loss. • If damage is not noted, the freight company is released from responsibility.
  • Shipping insurance is provided by the freight company, not by JDM Engine Bay Inc. We are not responsible for damage caused by mishandling during shipping.
